Heartbreaker is a cozy neighborhood cafe serving casual comfort food & small batch ice cream, made with love, a strong southern influence, & whenever possible, vegetables.

We could say a lot about what that all means, but the short story is this: we're happy here, & we want you to be, too. We're passionate about making things with care, knowing where our food is coming from, & offering a menu that's delicious & accessible to lots of folks.
Vegan? GF? Really, really love pickles? We've got you. Need something kid-friendly? A snack & a glass of wine? A jar of pimento cheese? You're covered. How about a date-night beer float? A cup of tomato soup on a rainy day? Pints of ice cream for a movie night at home? Come on in. We promise we won't make you try the beet sorbet, but you probably won't be mad at us if you do. (We really weren't kidding about that vegetable thing.)

A little more about . . .
Our pickles, ferments, & preserves: are our true love. Whether it's turning ripe, seasonal fruit into a shrub to splash into a glass of bubbly, slow-fermenting cabbage into tangy, crunchy kraut, or turning the bounty of an enthusiastic trip to the Montavilla farmers market into pickles for our ever-changing pickle plate, this is what we get really joyful about.
Our condiments & dressings: save for ketchup, yellow mustard, & mayo, our condiments, toppings, dressings, & so on are all made in our kitchen.
Our ice cream: is all made here, in 2.5 quart batches. Our flavors are inspired by Morgan's southern upbringing, Jax's Mexican heritage, seasonal PNW deliciousness, & whatever baked goods we can talk Hungry Heart into handing over. We're committed to always offering a number of vegan/non-dairy flavors alongside the rest of our lineup.
Our Heartbreaker Provisions: come on, take another little piece of our heart now, baby. We're offering a selection of our pickles, shrubs, & other Heartbreaker creations to go! find our current menu on the big chalkboard, or take a peek in the little blue fridge. Want to taste something, or curious about how to use the hot confetti relish/spiced plum shrub/fermented chili sauce at home? Just ask us!
Our vegan takes: won't ever cost more to substitute or swap for our non-vegan options. Our vegan cheese (inspired by smoked cheddar) is made here, our smoked jackfruit or carrot dogs are great for anyone who loves a less-processed vegan option, & our chickpea-based mock tuna salad might even be more delicious than our classic version! We're happy to substitute tofu or avocado for eggs on our brunch menu, & we're even working on our own house-made tempeh bacon-- coming soon!
Our meat/not-meat: we're using organic all-beef dogs from Painted Hills, all-pork dogs from PDX favorite Olympia Provisions, Field Roast vegan franks, & our own smoked carrot dogs. Our pulled pork takes a top-secret dry rub & 10 hours in the smoker, & is happiest dressed with both our BBQ & fermented hot sauces. Keep an eye out for occasional brisket specials!
